Malposition of a venous extracorporal life support cannula in a patent foramen ovale.

چکیده
A 29-year-old patient with patent foramen ovale (PFO) and arteriovenous-malformation developed Eisenmenger’s syndrome with subsequent multiorgan failure. Percutaneous veno-arterial extracorporal life support was established via the groin (Fig. 1). Transoesophageal echocardiography revealed a malposition of the venous cannula in the PFO (Fig. 2). The position of the cannula was corrected immediately.

This case report was an attempt to present the importance of diagnostic echocardiography and closure of a patent foramen ovale in carcinoid heart disease. Herein, we present a case of a 48-year-old woman with a carcinoid metastasis presenting with tricuspid regurgitation, pulmonic stenosis, patent foramen ovale, and borderline left ventricular ejection fraction on an echocardiogram. متن کاملClosure of patent foramen ovale in "cryptogenic" stroke: Has the story come to an end?
Contrasting with three randomized trials that failed to show any superiority of patent foramen ovale closure over antithrombotic therapy, two trials recently reported lower rates of stroke recurrence among patients assigned to patent foramen ovale closure than among those assigned to antiplatelet therapy. In addition, one of the initially negative trials concluded in favor of patent foramen ova...

Both chest X-ray and echocardiographic examination revealed the anomalous insertion of the tip of...
